The Stylish Five: Work A Holiday Skirt Into Your Wardrobe ($30 & Under)!

I’ve been turning to heavier textures for my work & can’t wait to start putting looks together for upcoming holiday gatherings too! For me, if I’m not wearing a dress, then you can be sure that I’ve got a holiday-friendly skirt in mind. I love all different fabrics & accents, which is why I wanted to share my five picks to wear without breaking the bank.

I love a good tweed & houndstooth is one of my favorite patterns & @Dress Barn the houndstooth ponte skirt ($29.50) is a great buy for that transition from day to night by changing up suede ballet flats to studded ankle booties. For an edgier look, you can find the faux leather skirt ($24.95) @H&M, which will coordinate well with lush silk blouses, embellished tanks, & preppy knits for some contrast.

For a more feminine look, break out a softer hue with the solid trimmed jacquard skirt ($22.80) from Forever 21 & try it with this season’s top color, oxblood, with a leather jacket & some textured tights.  For the real party girl, though this isn’t an office appropriate skirt, I love the i jeans by Buffalo feather skirt ($25.00), which JC Penney has just marked down from its original $100.00 price tag.  With such a statement skirt like this, keep your other pieces a little more basic, but work a collar necklace or some stacked bangles in for extra sparkle.  Lastly, Target is one of my favorite stores to shop & the Merona sweater skirt ($26.99) adds a splash of animal print to any lace peplum or sequin top.  The cozy material is sure to be comfortable, while still showing off your flair for fashion.

Splurge Or Save… On Red Suede Ankle Booties?

While I’m still keeping an eye on all things Black Friday still going on & the upcoming Cyber Monday deals, I’ve been noticing that red suede ankle booties.  Of course these aren’t a new item in the world of footwear, but it seems like every website that I’m clicking through has a pair & I love the idea of an unexpected pop of color on your feet with any layered heavy knit look & some neutral outerwear.

When it came time to update a Splurge or Save? post, I couldn’t help but wonder how I’d recommend my readers to wear these shoes, when I know I’d be looking for a more stiletto-like heel with some more feminine details. However, mixing this Western-inspired accessory is actually quite easy, when you consider it with skinny jeans or leggings, paired with plaids, polka dots, mini florals, & vintage lacey pieces.

@Zappos, the Seychelles ‘Crazy for You’ booties ($125.99) have been marked down from their original price of $140.00 & are my most expensive pick.  Next in line, you can find the Cinteresting ankle boots ($95.00) by Aerosoles with contrasting stitch details & a metallic buckle @QVC. Thirdly, the Rebels Harlow bootie ($39.94) from DSW has a lace-up detail behind the heel much like a sexy corset.  Standing at 3 3/4″, the cowboy booties ($29.80) from Forever 21 are the tallest of this quintet of shoes, but are also currently reduced $10.00 for the Black Friday sale which is ending today.  Lastly, the best deal of them all comes from Charlotte Russe with the sueded slip-on Western bootie ($18.55), which is 30% its original $26.50 price.

Would you wear red suede ankle booties? How would you style these? How much do you invest in your shoes? Are you following any of the Blake Friday & Cyber Monday sales? Happy Styling!

Black Friday Sale Update: Forever 21′s Extra 50% Off Super Sale!

The evening hours of the Black Friday sales are upon us & some are ending today, but if you’re shopping @Forever 21, the extra 50% off sale is going on until Sunday, when you use code EXTRA50 at checkout! This is always the first store I check up on every year for Black Friday & it never fails me when I’m looking for a cute cardigan, dazzling jewelry, or a new blouse for work.

I couldn’t just pick a few pieces this time around b/c there was just so much to choose from, so I made a collage using my beginner PhotoShop skills.  Take a look at the houndstooth print racerback tank ($12.56) & the stretch plaid denim skinnies ($19.59) which call on the mixed-print trend, as seen on the runways of this year’s New York Fashion week.  For another mix of flavors & fashion, I added the cable knit panel sweater ($15.64) with the woven mesh skirt ($12.48). My favorite piece of this whole selection is the retro stripe dress with belt ($21.25), which is also available in a camel / plum color scheme.

I tried the essential cable knit sweater dress ($21.96) in the store back in the beginning of the season & although it didn’t quite sit on me right, I love the chic look of the cream hue in such a cozy fall-friendly frock.  My favorite outfit combination, which is just soooo my style, is the flounced layered top ($18.01) with the striped mini skirt ($15.64), which is perfect for a holiday party or date night with your beau.

In all of this, I can’t forget the accessories, which include the lace-up wedge booties ($25.91) in teal, tiger stripe bangle set ($5.99), zebra print platform pump ($12.99), rhinestone flower studs ($1.99), & rhinestone platform heels ($17.99) in taupe.

I already added some of these items & a few others to my shopping bag to make my own splurge-worthy Black Friday purchase.  What’s in your shopping bag? Happy Styling!
