However, today’s gallery includes some regulars like Victoria Beckham‘s chic travel look when landing at JFK recently, Stacy Keibler‘s sculpted leather dress by Monique Lhuillier, & the always lovely Scandal star, Kerry Washington, in a designer mix featuring Marni, Isabel Marant, & Jennifer Fisher.

Red Carpet Review: Complete Coverage Of The 2013 Met Costume Institute Gala, Featuring Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie, Miley Cyrus, & More!

This year’s Met Costume Institute Gala‘s theme was ”PUNK: Chaos to Couture,” which means that we expected to see a lot of black, leather, cut-outs, sheer panels, & edge on the red carpet, but I don’t think fashion critics quite expected so much interpretation of the rock & roll vibe. This included some amazing looks worn by a platinum Anne Hathaway (in vintage Valentino), gothic Ashley Greene (in Marchesa), plaid-happy Christina Ricci (in Vivienne Westwood), spiked Miley Cyrus (in Marc Jacobs), a pretty Jennifer Lawrence (in Dior Haute Couture), Kylie Minogue‘s colorblocked look (in Moschino), as well as headlining statements of style from a silver-haired Nicole Richie (in Topshop), an under-stated Nicki Minaj (in Tommy Hilfiger), Beyoncé‘s show-stopping ensemble (in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci), Sarah Jessica Parker‘s powerhouse pieces (by Giles & Philip Treacy), & Nina Dobrev‘s brave one-piece (in Monique Lhuillier).

Enjoy the nearly never-ending slideshow, which also includes a bottomless Madonna (in Givenchy), elegant Jessica Alba (in Tory Burch), awkward babydoll look from Lena Dunham (in Erdem), funky & fringed Kelly Osbourne (in Marc Jacobs), sophisticated Claire Danes (in Oscar de la Renta), dramatic Kerry Washington (in Vera Wang), uber-sexy Jennifer Lopez (in Michael Kors), coy Katy Perry (in Dolce & Gabbana), & sultry Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in Gucci). Which looks were your favorites? Who do you think played it too safe? Which designers do you look for on the red carpet? Happy Styling!

5/6/2013 Darling Of The Day: Ashley Madekwe’s Checkered Topshop Jumpsuit!

Ashley MadekweUsually when I post something for Darling Of The Day, I share look-alike pieces that are much more affordable than what a celebrity is wearing. However, Revenge actress & style blogger extraordinaire Ashley Madekwe (who is making her second appearance in DOTD) calls on the pajama trend for a recent red carpet in support of a Topshop event. She showed up in the brand’s check dungaree jumpsuit ($110.00), which is currently available for purchase online. Yes, it’s a lot higher than I would pay, but the one-piece has a lot of versatility & plays with the same light flirtiness of a maxi dress.

To complete this look without breaking the bank, I’ve selected affordable pieces from Forever 21, including the essential layering tank ($2.80) in white, Love pendant necklace ($1.80) in gold, & lacquered geo hinge cuff ($5.80) in cream / white. Also, other pieces to build the outfit include the strappy faux leather heels ($22.60) from GOjane & Lulu Townsend flower snap box clutch ($34.95) from DSW. I also wanted to share that Ashley’s showing off some major toe cleavage & her pedicure looks fantastic with this season’s greatest color trend. To achieve this look, I recommend the salon formula nail lacquer ($6.00) in mint condition @Ulta.

What do you think about Ashley’s stylish overalls? Would you wear this look? Do you follow Ashley’s style blog, Ring My Bell? Top 10 Celeb Sightings: A Gallery Full Of Black & White Looks, & The Best Dressed Kates!

I’ve been one busy little Style Darling lately & it kills me that I went for so many days without posting! So much has been going on in fashion & the May issues of my favorite magazines are stacking up, collecting dust. I can’t wait to flip through them, but in the mean time, I’ve been scoping out some seriously stylish red carpet looks from our favorite celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow, who wore a sleek two-tone Narciso Rodriguez frock during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Also, trends I’ve been noticing are black & white looks, appropriately on my favorite Kates, such as mom-to-be Kate Middleton in a polka dot Topshop dress & Ralph Lauren jacket, Kate Hudson in a leather-accented belted dress, & Kate Beckinsale‘s patterned suit while attending the TCM Classic Film Festival.

Other looks worth mentioning are Charlize Theron‘s Jason Wu jumpsuit, Claire Danes in a leopard print Lanvin dress, Jennifer Lawrence in a sculpted LBD by David Koma, Jessica Biel in an elegant LBD at the Time 100 gala, Kirsten Dunst in a lace & leather mini dress by Emilio Pucci at the GLAAD Media Awards, & lastly, there’s Olivia Palermo looking flawless in an embellished Louis Vuitton sheath dress while at the opening of the brand’s Munich boutique.

Which looks are your favorites? Which trends are you following this spring? Which celebrities do you think always get it right? Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: ‘Oblivion’ Actress Olga Kurylenko Makes A Stylish Splash!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Ukrainian-born French actress Olga Kurylenko first caught our attention as a sexy Bond girl in Quantum of Solace. Since then, the leggy beauty has slowly climbed the fashion ladder with stunning red carpet looks. Lately, I’ve been catching Olga’s stylish appearances while promoting her latest sci-fi action flick, Oblivion, opposite Tom Cruise. In addition, she’s also been out & about sharing her work in Terrence Malick’s To the Wonder with Ben Affleck & Rachel McAdams.

However, what I wanted to share was how the former model continues to transform her red carpet image in gowns, cocktail frocks, mini dresses, & sleek separates. She’s certainly made her mark, what with designers like Marchesa, Salvatore Ferragamo, Elie Saab, Roland Mouret, Balmain, Stella McCartney, & many more, ready to dress her! What do you think of Olga’s red carpet style? Which is your favorite look?

Red Carpet Review: Gwyneth Paltrow’s Press Tour Couldn’t Be More Stylish!

Gwyneth Paltrow has been topping the best dressed lists for ages now & even on the cusp of a wild promotional tour for her latest film, Iron Man 3, she’s also been making the rounds to share her latest cook book, It’s All Good. She’s the queen of minimalist chic & definitely knows how to work a mini skirt, even at 40!

The Oscar-winner made an appearance at Good Morning America in New York wearing a contoured black & white dress with black pointy toe patent leather pumps. Earlier this month, the blonde beauty hit up Barnes & Noble in a printed Isabel Marant mini dress. She added edge to her black & white look with peep toe Michael Kors booties. At the Munich premiere of Iron Man 3, she choose a sleek white KaufmanFranco dress with black cap toe pumps by Christian Louboutin.

Gwyneth Paltrow.

She’s never one to shy away from a showing off her gams & achieves this in a separates look with an A.L.C. checkerboard top with black shorts & a cuffed white blazer. Her black & gold sandals complete the luxurious look while signing copies of her book. Finally, we see Gwynnie in some color! What better way to do that than in a vibrant purple mini dress by Victoria Beckham with neon & black ankle strap Michael Kors sandals for the opening of friend & personal trainer, Tracy Anderson’s flagship studio.

What do you think of Gwyneth’s latest looks? Do you think she’s bringing new meaning to sexy at 40? Red Carpet Review: Emmy Rossum’s Glamorous 2013… So Far!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We’re already through the first fiscal quarter of 2013 & it’s clear that one of the most stylish beauties on the red carpet has been actress / singer Emmy Rossum. Her flirty, youthful, & effortless looks have made her one of the most photographed women of the year. She’s a designer’s darling in dresses by Naeem Khan, Tory Burch, Temperley London, Oscar de la Renta, DiorCatherine Deane, Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet, & countless others. Emmy has been busy promoting her recent film, Beautiful Creatures, & the newest season of Shameless, but she’s recently released an album, Sentimental Journey, & posed for the cover of Self magazine.

I’ve created 24-image gallery, which shares Emmy’s go-to designer, Andrew Gn, & favorite silhouettes with cinched waists, peep toe pumps, & halter cuts. What do you think of Emmy’s red carpet style? Which look is your favorite? For more from Red Carpet Review, check out previous posts including peplum looks on Amy Adams & Olivia Palermo, the floral trend on Selena Gomez & Jessica Chastain, the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards red carpet featuring Jessica Alba & Fergie, Ashley Madekwe’s Mulberry ensemble, & the latest black & white looks on Amanda Seyfried & Nicole Richie! Splurge Or Save… On A Black Peplum Tank!

During a recent shopping venture, it occurred to me that my wardrobe lacks a peplum piece. This was surprising because of how flattering a peplum silhouette is for any & every shape. I’ve seen plenty of peplums on the red carpet, designed into gowns, styled with pencil skirts, paired with pants, & accented on cocktail frocks. This is seen on Glee actress Naya Rivera in a Monique Lhuillier sleeveless top with a printed pencil skirt. Also, Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana celebrated Prabal Gurung in a belted top & shorts look by the designer. Oscar nominee Amy Adams is feminine in a polka dot Jenny Packham design with Jimmy Choo stilettos.

Naya Rivera, Zoe Saldana, Amy Adams, Olivia Palermo, Freida Pinto, & Cate Blanchett.

Style muse Olivia Palermo matches a tweed Rebecca Taylor top with skinny jeans & silver pumps. Indian beauty Freida Pinto took in Burberry Prorsum‘s recent runway show in a jewel tone ensemble. Aussie actress Cate Blanchett attended the Dubai International Film Festival in a peplum top by Peter Pilotto with a pencil skirt & studded evening sandals.

When you’re planning to invest in a trendy piece, it’s always important to consider how often you’ll wear it to get the most for your money. This is especially true in the case of the Trina Turk peplum top ($228.00) from Nordstrom, which is also available in pink & white to lighten up your tougher looks as we transition from winter to spring. For a more relaxed look, you can head over to ShopBop for the Only Hearts ladder back peplum camisole ($110.00) to wear with skinny jeans, liquid leggings, or a satin mini skirt. Banana Republic‘s ponte knit peplum top ($49.50) offers a chic alternative to stuffy work looks with suit separates or printed trousers.

At a lower price point, the Romeo & Juliet Couture high-low peplum blouse ($34.30) from Last Call by Neiman Marcus has been recently marked down from its original $130.00 price tag. For my curvier Style Darlings, the Mossimo sleeveless peplum top ($22.99) is available @Target in sizes XS – XXL. Also, it’s sold in white stripes & orange stripes so that you can play with prints & mix it with a pair of floral cropped pants or a polka dot skirt. Lastly, the most affordable is the zip back peplum tank ($17.94) from Express, however sizes are limited & will probably run out due to the store’s current 40% off sale.

Clearly, peplums are pretty easy to find so many varieties, especially sleeveless ones that are perfect for layering over long-sleeved shirts in the cooler months, over a sheath dress to add more structure, & with any & every bottom in your current wardrobe. Do you follow the peplum trend? How do you like to wear it? For more from Splurge or Save?, check out previous posts including blue leather moto jackets, Kim Kardashian’s silver pointy toe Jimmy Choo pumps, pink jeans from Michael Kors & J Brand, Diane Kruger’s floral Stella McCartney pants, & polka dot pants from White House Black Market & Ralph Lauren. 4/01/2013 Darling Of The Day: Taylor Swift’s Preppy & Cozy Sweater Look In NYC!

During a recent stay in New York City, country crooner Taylor Swift exited her hotel in a black long-sleeved cable knit sweater, cropped burgundy trousers, lace-up flats, & a leather tote bag. The usually feminine singer / songwriter shows off her preppy style, despite not having received the memo that spring is in the air. Of course there are just a few chilly days left in New York, but it’s not joke (on April Fool’s Day) that Taylor’s look is classic, effortless, & easy to pull off.

To put together an affordable version of this outfit, I selected the Sonoma life + style cable knit sweater ($19.99) in black from Kohl’s, which can also be mixed with a pastel pleated skirt, or worn over a floral sheath dress. Also, the Marisa straight leg pants ($26.93) in empire red from LOFT can offset softer pieces like a silk ruffled blouse, sequined tank & boyfriend blazer, & solid tee with a statement necklace. The accessories are perfect for any season, including the H-Trosuer flats ($59.95) in black from Steve Madden, faux leather zip pocket tote ($45.00) in orange from Dress Barn, & floral square sunglasses ($5.80) from Forever 21.

What do you think of Taylor’s look? Do you like mixing menswear pieces to your everyday outfits? Are you shopping for loafer flats for the spring? Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: Kim Kardashian’s Silver Jimmy Choo Pumps!

Fashion critics & bloggers have been on the look out for Kim Kardashian‘s pregnancy style, which has included lots of pencil skirts, body conscious dresses, & empire-waisted looks to show off her growing shape & glow. Kim is never one to turn away from a high heel, & during a recent appearance in New York City, she donned the Anouck metallic leather pumps ($650.00) by Jimmy Choo from Saks Fifth Avenue. Not every expectant mom-to-be would be so bold as to keep up their pre-baby bump style with such confidence & sophistication.

Of course, that’s a heft price to pay for silver pumps, but the neutral metallic trend is coming back for spring, especially when paired with bright neons, soft pastels, & edgy embellished pieces. I recently shared a pic on Instagram featuring a shoe find in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar of a killer pair of silver pointy toe heels, but I also found several options at lower price points for any budget.

This includes the Stuart Weitzman Daisy pumps ($335.00) from Zappos, Joe’s Jeans Delores pumps ($109.99) from 6PM, the pointed toe pump ($47.94) from Express, & the most affordable are the pointed hologram pumps ($24.80) from Forever 21. All of these are sexy additions to upgrade a jeans & blouse look for day, modernize a lace LBD, or satin shorts & a blazer for a night out with the girls.
