Runway Rundown: Watch Chanel’s Fall / Winter 2014-15 RTW Collection From Paris Fashion Week!

Chanel Fall / Winter 2014 - 15 REady To Wear Collection at Paris Fashion Week

It’s been another crazy week, both personally & professionally, but things are starting to look up. Thankfully, there’s Paris Fashion Week to keep this Style Darling a little bit perkier. The weekend red carpet wowed with stunning looks at this year’s Academy Awards, but what’s even bigger is the latest from Chanel that hit the runway across the pond.

Thanks to the above video from YouTube, courtesy of Chanel‘s very stylish channel, we’re able to gush & gasp at the lush looks, some of which have already been modeled by the likes of Rihanna & Keira Knightley. Aside from the waist-cinching, layered looks, fabulous faces like Cara Delevingne & Kendall Jenner were spotted strutting their stuff in support of Karl Lagerfeld‘s latest designs!

Which looks were your favorites from the collection? Have you been following any specific designers this season? What trends have you spotted on the runway? Happy Styling!

Show Me The Shoes: Black & White Spring Trends From Payless!

I’ve always been pro black & white when it comes fashion, loving the classic color combination, especially when it comes to patterns like polka dots, houndstooth, & stripes. However, now that winter is finally leaving us, we can focus on spring trends, like black & white in our accessories. Wearing black & white printed shoes, for example, will instantly punch up any look, helping transition the heavy layers from the winter to lighter, breezier separates for spring.

I know I can always count on Payless for the latest styles to mix & match with my other wardrobe staples, especially at such an affordable price. If you’re headed for the beach during the upcoming spring break, take the Sadia raffia high wedge sling ($24.99) with a maxi dress or shorts romper. Also, for the office, I love the Krime peep toe pump ($19.99) for a sheath dress, blazer & pencil skirt look, or for happy hour in a sequin tank & skinny jeans. If you’re looking for chic & comfy flats, I’m excited about the Chelsea flat ($16.99) & Claire scrunch flat ($24.99) that can work for a variety of occasions.

For more fabulous black & white shoes, check out luxury designs like these from Christian Louboutin, Michael Kors, Manolo Blahnik, & Loeffler Randall. More affordable options also include Nine West, Madden Girl, Fergalicious, & Croft & Barrow. What shoe trends are you following for the new season? What colors are you ready to wear? Happy Styling!

Color Me Style: Now Is All About Navy, Featuring Blake Lively, Marchesa, & More!

Somewhere around the corner is spring, & while Pantone’s color of 2014 is orchid, I’ve been seeing so much navy everywhere. I love the idea of this regal neutral all over the runways for spring, breaking away from basic black to match with other bold hues.

Blake Lively, Rose Byrne, & Kate Mara.

A-list celebs have been embracing navy on the red carpet, including Blake Lively & Rose Byrne in head-to-toe Michael Kors looks straight from the runway. Also, House of Cards actress Kate Mara shows off her feminine & edgy side with the crop top trend in lace Dior separates & pointy toe pumps.

Derek Lam, Rebecca Minkoff, & Marchesa Fall 2014 Ready-To-Wear

Also, navy appeared on the runway during New York Fashion Week in all forms. Navy is perfect for casual wear, the office, & a night out, as seen on Derek Lam, Rebecca Minkoff, & Marchesa. There’s a decadence to the marvelous midnight color, which was shown with futuristic cut-outs, mod layered lines, & romantic drama.

To bring the red carpet & runway to your closet, I’ve found a few must-have pieces that will transition easily from winter-to-spring, including the belted button-front shirtdress ($40.00) from Dress Barn. To wear it now, in the midst of yet another wintry snow storm here in New York, coordinate this with tights, knee boots, & a chunky boyfriend sweater.

Dress @Dress Barn $40.00, Peasant Top @Forever 21 $22.80, Top @H&M $17.95, Pants @New York & Company $52.95.

Top off your favorite skinny jeans, pencil skirt, or tuxedo pants with the daydreamer peasant top ($22.80) from Forever 21 & H&M‘s lace top ($17.95). Lastly, get rid of those old, boring pants & trade them in for New York & Company‘s 7th Avenue bootcut pants ($52.95) in windowpane print. Mix up your look with a cashmere sweater, embroidered cardigan, or studded vest.

How do you feel about navy in your wardrobe? Which of these pieces can you see yourself wearing? More affordable shopping picks include LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s, Victoria’s Secret, Modcloth, & JC Penney! Happy Styling!

Splurge Or Save… On A Lace Sweatshirt?

Even though I’m stuck in the thick of winter, along with the rest of the east coast, I’m still looking ahead to spring for some style inspiration. One of the favorite trends that started coming up during the winter & is making its way into stylish spring wardrobes in the lace sweatshirt. The feminine combination of elegance & casual makes for a fabulous way to reinterpret what it means to be chic. This is an essential separate for a casual Friday at the office, which can also be turned into a night our piece with leather leggings & ankle boots or skinny jeans & stilettos.

Keeping a budget in mind for any Style Darling shopping the sale rack, I wanted to direct your attention to a pair of lace sweatshirts, in different price ranges.

lace sweatshirtsThe lace sweatshirt ($110.00) to the left is from White House Black Market, & while it will make an investment in quality craftsmanship, it’s not exactly budget-friendly. However, on the right, the floral lace front tee ($44.50) @LOFT, which is a lightweight option, but still shares the same idea. To maintain the classy look of this shirt, mix these up with various accessories, like a string of pearls, stud earrings, & a headband, especially with modern bottoms like distressed jeans & ballet flats, menswear-inspired trousers & studded boots, or cigarette pants & ankle strap platforms.

What trends are you looking forward to this spring? What looks caught your eye during New York Fashion Week? Which pieces are your favorites to mix & match? For more fancy sweatshirts, check out designer duds like these from Tory Burch @Nordstrom & Valentino @Net-A-Porter! Other more affordable shopping options include sweatshirts from Delia’s, Macy’s, Bluefly, & Kohl’s. Happy Styling!

A Love Letter To My Style Darlings!

Dear Style Darling Friends,

I am writing to share what’s been going on in my life this winter (despite the summer-ish looking picture to the right!), which is why I’ve been absent from the blogosphere. I am midway through my studies in an intense academic program, where I’ll be earning my Master’s Degree in 2-3 more semesters in Writing & Literature. My two loves in life are writing & fashion, while I get to live the fashion part everyday by exploring my own wardrobe & finding stylish bargains on the clearance racks, writing has become priority number one. I always sought to make WordPress my central blog location, but given the constraints of other responsibilities (two jobs & school), I’ve shared my favorite fashion stories & moments through other social media outlets that are more Smart phone friendly since I’m often on the go. I’d like to direct all of you to follow my Twitter (@MissAlissaL) Instagram (MissAlissaL), Pinterest, & Facebook in the mean time, until I am better able to manage my time on WordPress for those who are generous enough to share their interest in fashion & style with me. Not to mention that I’m currently without the means to adequately use my beginner level graphic design skills in order to better serve the image-heavy posts that I usually present.

Style Darling started out as a hobby blog since I loved sharing my fashion interest with friends, & then it turned into a passion project which blends my two loves. I am proud to say that this venture reaches more & more people on a regular basis, 1200+ followers. However, as I embark on this very important academic journey (which I hope will result in a memoir), supporting myself with two time-consuming jobs, & making the best of my situation both personally & professionally, I ask for your continued support. Style Darling is no longer dormant.

Additionally, I would like to take this opportunity to reach out to my fellow bloggers & readers that if you know anyone interested, or you yourself are a style blogger, I am currently accepting inquiries regarding guest posts, relating to fashion news or shopping tips in any capacity. Please contact me at StyleDarlingEmail@gmail.com for more information & we can bounce some ideas around to spread the word of style even further! Happy Styling my loves!
