2013 Black Friday Style: Fabulous Ankle Booties For Under $50!

So maybe getting a pair of ankle booties for about $50 isn’t the biggest bargain you could score for Black Friday, but I’m smitten with so many new styles, which can be worn in so many different ways. I love the variety of textures like suede & leather, or details like studs, snake embossed finish, or a wedge heel. Ankle booties are the perfect footwear choice for transitioning from fall to winter, while staying on-trend.

Aldo - Koubova booties $34.99, H&M - boots $39.95, Forever 21 - Standout lace-up booties $34.80, & Piperlime - Qupid Prevail bootie $49.97.

My favorite picks include the following: Koubova bootie ($34.99) in taupe @Aldo, suede boots ($39.95) in black @H&M, Standout lace-up booties ($34.80) in tan @Forever 21, & Qupid Prevail bootie ($49.97 + 40% off using code GIFT) in garnet @Piperlime.

Runway Rundown: Christian Siriano’s Resort 2014 Collection!

It’s not secret that I, along with the (practically) rest of the fashion world, am a fan of the most successful Project Runway winning designer, Christian Siriano. To add to the plethora of posts dedicated to the flamboyant fashionista, I wanted to share his stripe-happy, colorblocked Resort 2014 Collection, which seems to have derived inspiration from previous collections from Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, & Oscar de la Renta. However, Siriano puts his own spin on these brights with contrasting black or black & white pieces that add a demure sensibility to his youthful audience. Also, details like reinvented chevron stripes & feathers make this one luxury line to watch out for on upcoming movie premiere red carpets!

Which look is your favorite from the collection? Who is your favorite Project Runway victor? For more from Runway Rundown, check out previous Resort 2014 posts including Tory Burch, Gucci, Rachel Zoe Collection, & Chanel! Happy Styling!

6/10/2013 Darling Of The Day: Taylor Swift’s Leggy Look In London!

I will be honest- I have a like-dislike affection for Taylor Swift. Maybe b/c too many of her breakup songs relate to my personal situation for the 2013 calendar year, so far. However, I can’t help but love her casual separates looks, which reminds us that the country crooner is a young style icon, even though her more formal red carpet looks all seem to follow the same glittery or white princess uniform. Here at the 2013 Capital FM Summertime Ball in London, the singer / songwriter makes this feminine Oscar de la Renta blouse looks youthful by pairing it with classic black shorts & strappy black sandals. For those of you looking to show off your gams, but still keep it classy, this is the perfect look to emulate.

You certainly don’t have to break the bank, especially when I’ve found some look-alike pieces to recreate this luxury look… & for under $100! This includes the contrast trim button up ($19.80) from Forever 21. Clearly, it doesn’t have all the lace details & black trim on the sleeve, but it’s very similar in that it will keep your upper half covered up. Not to mention this will look chic with a brocade pencil skirt & peep toe pumps, leather leggings & ankle booties, or with skinny trousers & ballet flats. Also, the Gramercy Gabardine short ($39.95) from New York & Company are a summer staple, which will dress up plenty of other tops, including a silk cami & blazer with platform sandals. What’s great about shopping NY&Co is that you can also benefit from their current BOGO 50% off sale if you find another essential basic for your spring-summer wardrobe.

As for accessories, I went back to Forever 21 to find the heart charm ring ($1.80) which was just too precious to pass up, the Simply Vera Vera Wang silver tone simulated crystal stud earrings ($8.40) from Kohl’s, & Charlotte Russe‘s strappy zip-back mid-heel sandal ($30.00) in black.

Cover Craze: Kate Upton’s American Vogue Cover Channels A Modern-Day Marilyn Monroe!

Kate Upton for Vogue June 2013 01

To be completely honest, I wasn’t crazy about supermodel Kate Upton at first like the rest of the world has been; however, after seeing the beyond-amazing spread in the June 2013 issue of Vogue- the model’s first major American fashion magazine cover- I was won over! She channels a modern-day Marilyn Monroe with classic all-American style, bombshell curves, & old-fashioned ambition to break away from the typical supermodel mold. The shoot was photographed by the ever-legendary Mario Testino, which includes looks & pieces from Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier, Rochas, Ray-Ban, Donna Karan New York, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Max Mara, Jason Wu, Stella McCartney, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Hermès, & Matthew Williamson.

While Kate looks more voluptuous than most models walking the catwalk, she’s a healthy size 4 & responds to nay-sayers about her shape with the following: “The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change. I can’t change  my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and  motivated, but I can’t change some things.” The Sports Illustrated beauty is breath-taking in sleek separates looks, flirty swimwear shots, & evening couture.

In a behind-the-scenes look at the model strutting her stuff in Uruguay, Kate shares her tips for having the ultimately stylish summer, including how having the right sunglasses & some comfy sandals can make or break your vacation! The resemblance to Marilyn Monroe in uncanny, but it’s really gorgeous to see the celebrated hairstyles of vintage Hollywood starlets like Monroe teased in contrast to contemporary fashion.

Red Carpet Review: Emmy Rossum’s Glamorous 2013… So Far!

We’re already through the first fiscal quarter of 2013 & it’s clear that one of the most stylish beauties on the red carpet has been actress / singer Emmy Rossum. Her flirty, youthful, & effortless looks have made her one of the most photographed women of the year. She’s a designer’s darling in dresses by Naeem Khan, Tory Burch, Temperley London, Oscar de la Renta, DiorCatherine Deane, Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet, & countless others. Emmy has been busy promoting her recent film, Beautiful Creatures, & the newest season of Shameless, but she’s recently released an album, Sentimental Journey, & posed for the cover of Self magazine.

I’ve created 24-image gallery, which shares Emmy’s go-to designer, Andrew Gn, & favorite silhouettes with cinched waists, peep toe pumps, & halter cuts. What do you think of Emmy’s red carpet style? Which look is your favorite?
