2013 Black Friday Style: Fabulous Ankle Booties For Under $50!

So maybe getting a pair of ankle booties for about $50 isn’t the biggest bargain you could score for Black Friday, but I’m smitten with so many new styles, which can be worn in so many different ways. I love the variety of textures like suede & leather, or details like studs, snake embossed finish, or a wedge heel. Ankle booties are the perfect footwear choice for transitioning from fall to winter, while staying on-trend.

Aldo - Koubova booties $34.99, H&M - boots $39.95, Forever 21 - Standout lace-up booties $34.80, & Piperlime - Qupid Prevail bootie $49.97.

My favorite picks include the following: Koubova bootie ($34.99) in taupe @Aldo, suede boots ($39.95) in black @H&M, Standout lace-up booties ($34.80) in tan @Forever 21, & Qupid Prevail bootie ($49.97 + 40% off using code GIFT) in garnet @Piperlime.

Color Me Style: Breaking The Brown & Black Mixing Myth (Dedicated to Christine)!

In an effort for some variety, I turned to my dear friend Christine for some blog inspiration. Of course, there’s plenty of great deals out there this weekend with all of the Black Friday sales, but I was intrigued by her question about mixing black & brown, as in boots & dress, or belt & bag. 2013 is  a year to break the rules with accessories coordination & knowing which hues work best for your look, despite the myths that these colors don’t work together!

Walmart - waistband dress $14.00, Payless - riding boots $29.99, H&M - leather belt $12.95, & Dress Barn - disc earrings $12.00.

The first look I’m featuring shows a casual chic way to reinterpret a little black dress, including brown accessories: Faux leather waistband dress ($14.00) in black @WalmartBrash Zane riding boot ($29.99) in cognac @Payless, Glitter disc earrings ($12.00) in brown @Dress Barn, & leather belt ($12.95) in brown @H&M.

Target - sweater dress $29.99, Forever 21 - chain necklace $12.80, JC Penney - stretch bead bracelets $7.95, & DSW - NYLA flat $19.95.

To dress up a flattering brown sweater dress, I’ve picked some luxe black accessories to make this look perfect & effortless for the holidays. Here’s what we’re working with: Mossimo long sleeved sweater dress ($29.99) in brown heather @Target, sleek curb chain necklace ($12.80) in black / gold @Forever 21, & black bead & shell stretch bracelet ($7.50) in black / gold @JC Penney, & NYLA Elanino flat ($19.94) in black @DSW.

Other style myths worth breaking are the navy & black combination, as well as wearing gold & silver jewelry. There are so many ways around a clashing look, and often mixing metals & textures can be even more fabulous! Show Me The Shoes: The New Hadley Flat From Julianne Hough’s New Sole Society Collection!

Julianne Hough for Sole SocietyI’ve been trying to keep an eye out for the latest & greatest in fall shoes, which is why I’m happy to share my new favorites from Julianne Hough‘s new collection for Sole Society. The more time I spend on my feet between both of my jobs & heading to class at night, the more I’m loving all of the flats in my shoe collection.

While Sole Society usually runs up on the high end of price points, I’m crazy about the Hadley sweetheart flats ($64.95) in stucco black, adobe black, French taupe, & jazzberry. I’ve never been a big fan of ankle straps on shoes, but these flats are a little extra special with the delicate patent & suede detail, as well as the open vamps, which recall a sophisticated d’orsay style.

What have you splurged on this fall? What’s your favorite style of ballet flats? Which textures do you prefer when it comes to shoes? Which celebrity fashion collaborations are you most excited to shop? For more from Julianne’s Sole Society collection, check out the Joey bootie, Anneke heel, Jelena pump, & Britton loafer! Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: Kicking Butt This Fall With Boots & A 2-in-1 Sweater Blouse!

My apologies for such a long absence from the blogosphere. The (geographic) Style Darling headquarters has since relocated & it took much longer than expected to finally get settled. However, I’ve been making the best of my budget, decorating my new digs & being VERY conservative with any style must-haves, which is why I’m so inspired to return to my readers with some amazing, affordable finds!

Dress Barn - Knotted faux suede 'Tait' boots $65.00. Woven back top in Turquoise $21.60.

This includes the knotted faux suede ‘Tait’ boots ($65.00) in black & the woven back top ($21.60) in turquoise, both from Dress Barn. Luckily, I’m a part-time employee of the local store & can reap the benefits of a discount, but I can’t emphasize how much I loooove these pieces! I always have such a hard time finding knee boots that zip all the way up & these are super comfortable (although the 3-inch heel is shorter than I usually wear). Also, I love the jewel tone of the top, which reads as a sweater in the front & a blouse on the way out. Not to mention that its reduced from its original price & is available in sizes Small – 3X!

What are your favorite new fall finds? Where are your go-to stores for the latest trends? Which colors are you wearing this season?
